Attention Deficit Disorder Experience

I have been working with ADD since October 11, 1987, when I finally discovered what was "wrong" with me, and I have been studying it ever since.

As my gift to the community, I have been sharing the information I have learned about ADD neurology, distinguishing challenges, the dynamics of attending, and the particular workings of the grieving process that one must work through following diagnosis, on the monthly OFI ADD HOUR™ national telebridge support groups that I have hosted since 1994, and in person at CH.A.D.D. meetings and ADD conferences and seminars around the country.

I was featured on a CBS news program as an ADDer who had learned to become high functioning and now coaches others to do the same thing. I was a member of the 4-coach team of ADD coaching founders (Nancy Ratey, Sue Sussman, and Eric Kohner) who designed and organized the first ADD specific coaching forums in 1997, as part of the annual ADDA conference co-sponsored by Wayne State University School of Medicine. In September of 2000, I was invited to participate in an all-expert conference in Washington, D.C., the first coach to address the professional membership of the Institute For Behavioral Health, IDH. I have presented various ADD-focused topics at conferences held by The Kitty Petty Institute (KPI), ADDA-SR, National ADDA, Coach U, the International Coach Federation (ICF), and numerous regional CH.A.D.D. and coaching chapters on both coasts.

As CEO of OFI™, I participated as the ADD coaching representative on the ICF Coaching Schools Panel with seven other coach training institutions to develop standards and policies for coach training program accreditation and am working to develop an ADD-specific coach certification with ICF.

My ADD story is something I willingly share with clients. I want them to have the benefit of my years of research and struggle without having to experience them personally. Working with me flattens their learning curve.
