If You Took the 12-month ADD Coach Training (ACT)
The following have been selected from the Discussion Questions
posed at the end of the first TWO sections of ADD-101. Lot's

- How long have ADD symptoms been recognized as a disorder?
Why don't we know what causes ADD yet?
- Why do you think stimulants reduce ADD symptomology? Why don't
they work for everyone?
- A child exhibits all the signs of ADD and is put on the Feingold
diet. The child's ADD symptoms disappear. How
would you explain that?
- Some doctors still believe that ADD occurs more often in boys,
is a childhood disorder that is outgrown and
always occurs with hyperactivity. What would possibly have them
think that?
- Explain the difference between hypoactivity and hyperactivity.
How many different ways can hyperactivity present?
- A client tells you that they don't read – that often
they forget what they've just read, lose their place on the page,
and feel a general anxiety when they attempt to assimilate written
information. Is that client dyslexic? Why or
why not? If we rule out dyslexia in the client above, do we have
a strong indication of ADD? Why or why not?
- How do trouble with directionality and perfectionism (black
and white thinking) relate?
- How can you tell whether an ADD client who is consistently
late is having trouble with time or transitions? Is it important
to differentiate? Why or why not?
- How would you answer the charge that its illogical to distinguish
a disorder that has symptoms present in the
entire general population?
- How does understanding the dynamic of attending and the mechanisms
of memory help you to coach a client with ADD?
